RACHAEL BLOCK
In 1974, my parents, Joel and Madeline Tartell, opened Block Pharmacy on the corner of 73rd Street and Third Avenue in NYC. In 1980, they relocated to a 6,200 square foot space at 1282 Third Avenue in what was once a NYC supermarket. The size of which dominated any pre-existing pharmacy.
Most of my early childhood memories center around the store. Whether it was riding my tricycle down the ramp at the front, seeing my friends and their families as they were shopping (since they were mostly all customers) or helping Diana Ross purchase a Mason Pearson brush when I was around 7 or 8 years old. So many memories and so many stories which I look forward to sharing.
ย I have recently come back into possession of impeccably preserved brand new (now Vintage) in pristine condition hair accessories from their โRachael Blockโ line. Yes, all of which, were named after me. Each and every piece was hand-picked straight from the designer by my parents and came straight from their European showrooms.
ย I canโt wait to share them with you and recount more stories as I go.ย
