Me

Our Story

In 1974, my parents, Joel and Madeline Tartell, opened Block Pharmacy on the corner of 73rd Street and Third Avenue in NYC. In 1980, they relocated to a 6,200 square foot space at 1282 Third Avenue in what was once a NYC supermarket. The size of which dominated any pre-existing pharmacy.

ย

Most of my early childhood memories center around the store. Whether it was riding my tricycle down the ramp at the front, seeing my friends and their families as they were shopping (since they were mostly all customers) or helping Diana Ross purchase a Mason Pearson brush when I was around 7 or 8 years old. So many memories and so many stories which I look forward to sharing.ย

Happy Customers

"Your parents were always so warm and welcoming and the store - the smell - the beautiful inventory - it was so luxurious. From celebrating life's victories - celebrations - It was a home away from home. As a young child it was a place of pure awe and delight. I can't wait to relive some of these fond memories."

โ€œThe best memories of us and our parents together - so hardworking all of them. The best treat was visiting you all onn a Saturday early afternoon - after we finished "work". Still use my Mason Pearson every single day."
